This is a free space for students to design in a way that reminds them of the topic Minerals: The Hunt for Main Ideas - we started this in class. Most students worked in groups of 3 or more and discussed the reading from last night. They picked the main idea of each paragraph from the reading and recorded this in their notebooks. Students that did NOT complete HW had to read in class before starting this activity. We will finish tomorrow in class. What is a mineral? - Will save this for later Geology Vocab 1 - Students have 6 words from the first section to learn. Students do 3 things with each word: 1. Illustrate and color each word to the best of your ability on the outside of the flap (or to the side on the notebook paper) 2. Add the BBD (boring book definition) as found WITHIN the text of the chapter. This is NOT a place to use the glossary. This goes either on the back of the flap or on the paper under the flap 3. Create your own 5-word-definition (5WD) from the BBD. No more than or fewer than 5 words. Example of a 5WD for igloo: tiny house made of ice. This also goes on the back of the flap or under the flap HW: 1. M&M lab summary due tomorrow 2. Geology Vocab 1 due Friday 3. Quiz Friday 4. Read IT pages 40-44 3rdSame as 1st and 2nd. Students that did NOT finish the lab should finish it for homework. We worked on this in groups in class. After the completion of the lab: Select 4 of the 8 sections and write a THREE SENTENCE summary of each (total of 12 sentences) with an elbow partner. Be sure to add an introduction and conclusion sentence, for a total of 14 sentences in your summary (minimum). This is DUE THURSDAY (2 nights) - you may work with a partner on this and turn it in together, or submit your own. I highly encourage you to work with a partner, as discussing this will help you to better understand the material! HW:
4th period:
