Students took the weekly quiz today. They also received the rocks test. Some class periods started to go over the answers and some didn't. We will finish going over the answers on Monday.
Students were asked to write their answers on the test. They also completed a HALO (scantron) which actually scored the items. Because of this, there are no marks for incorrect answers on the test they receive to keep in their notebooks. When we go over the answers in class, they are to mark what they answered correctly or incorrectly, as well as fill out a mastery checklist.
Science tests are similar to language arts tests in the sense that we break the test down into standards. The rocks test covered 4 standards. Each standard had 5 questions assigned to it. If students received a 1, 2, or 3 out of 5, the student is required to do some make up work and then retake that portion of the test only. Students receiving a 4 or 5 out of 5 are not required to do an remediation.
Students have one chance and one chance only to retake a portion of the test. Regardless if the second attempt is a higher or lower score, the second attempt score "sticks."
Students that earned a 73 or below (D or U) are required to have it signed by a parent. Each day the test is unsigned will accrue one Class Dojo point for not following directions. Please check with your student for his/her test!
FLAPS WILL BE CHECKED FRIDAY WHEN WE TEST
HW: Test Friday. Work on science fair idea. Get test signed (73 and below). Flaps on 40, 41, 41
