Things are ALWAYS changing! Our planned trip to the media center this morning was foiled by a complete technology fail! Luckily, we were able to come back to the classroom and continue with the activity we started yesterday. We won't get into the media center for the first time until this Friday, so THE DUE DATE FOR THE PAPER HAS MOVED TO FRIDAY AUGUST 31.
Today in class we DOVE into studying rocks! Students participated in Day 1 of "The Great Rock Mix-Up" which will continue all week.
With no homework on Wednesday and Thursday nights, we're going to have just a little bit over the weekend. In class today, students are completing the vocabulary pre-test. Over the weekend, please complete "Is it a rock?" in preparation for our study of rocks, minerals, and the rock cycle!
Your textbook is online this year! Over the weekend, see if you can log in. Simply go to the GCPS homepage and click on My eCLASS. Students will be prompted to log in with their GCPS Student ID numbers (the lunch number) for both the user and password. If you reach an error page, don't stress, because there are currently some technical issues. If you are able to get in and browse around, please do! My understanding is that people are having better luck with Firefox than Internet Explorer. As soon as this is reliable, I will try to post a screencast of how to log in if any of you are having trouble. As ironic as it is for me to post this online, if your family doesn't have internet access, let me know. Also, if you family doesn't have computer access, please let me know that as well. We are very limited in our access to books OTHER than e-books, but it is imperative that each student have access to the text to use as a resource. Today was out second day of class. Students are switching for the first time and are getting a feel of what middle school is like. Tonight's homework includes:
